While at Nevermore, Wednesday is surprised to find that there are boys who show romantic interest in her and peers who want to be her friend. Instead of trying to force their daughter to endure the mundanity and close-mindedness of any more mainstream schools, the series starts with Gomez and Morticia Addams sending Wednesday to Nevermore Academy - their own alma mater. Applied to Wednesday, the change in style mirrors her storyline in the Netflix series. However, instead of pushing further into the technical realms, the album slowed down their thrash metal sound and removed progressive elements of the music, favoring a more traditional pop sound instead. In the early 1990s, Metallica seemed to be on an upwards incline of more complexity and ambition prior to the release of the Black Album. Furthermore, the entire album thematically captures Wednesday's same defiant attitude throughout the series. To add to the song's significance, the Black Album was initially released in 1991, the same year The Addams Family movie ( starring Christina Ricci as Wednesday) came out.
